Torre Mozza, Carbonifera, Mortelliccio and Casetta Civinini beaches

Here you’ll find information on how to reach some of our favourite beaches, all with fine sand and public beach alongside well-equipped beach resorts. To reach the first of these beaches, after Follonica in the direction of Piombino on the Provincial Road 152 “Aurelia Vecchia”, continue for about three kilometres until you reach a junction on the left leading directly to the car park for Torre Mozza beach, so called because of the 16th century watch tower and known for the natural pool formed by an ancient Roman road submerged a few meters from the shoreline. From the Torre Mozza car park, take the road that runs north along the beach and after two kilometres you’ll find the car park for Carbonifera beach, easily recognizable by the 19th century tower overlooking the pale sandy beach. Going further north, you’ll reach Mortelliccio, a beach of fine white sand with a shallow, gently sloping seabed that is ideal for children. If you want a six-kilometre stretch of pale sand, Casetta Civinini is for you: drive nine kilometres along the road from Follonica to Castiglione della Pescaia and take the junction on the right towards Punta Ala. After four kilometres, you’ll reach the car park for the beach.
