St. Galgano Abbey

St. Galgano Abbey

The story of King Arthur and his knights has been told to us since we were children. The Round Table is of no importance here, but if you want to see a sword embedded in a rock by Galgano, who wanted to transform the weapon into a cross, the Abbey thirty kilometres from Siena is the place for you. The legend of the sword in the stone is brought to life among the walls, now without roof but with wonderful architectural features, and a visit to St. Galgano Abbey and the nearby village of Chiusdino is worth the trip.
