Lago dell’Accesa
Twelve kilometres from Il Belvedere Holiday Farm and surrounded by oak and holly oak woodland, Lago dell’Accesa extends over an area of fourteen hectares, with a depth that reaches fifty meters. Important Etruscan settlements have been found on its banks, so much so that the area has become an archaeological park and can be visited by following the designated trails, while the Etruscan artefacts found can be seen at the Archaeological Museum of Massa Marittima. The lake’s water is an intense blue and in summer is very tempting for a dip from its small fine sand beach. There are many popular legends that have surrounded the lake over the centuries and probably derive from its name (the lake that lights up) and from its varying depth.
